Quantitative Analysis of Opportunities and Challenges in the Use of Green IT

Abstract:
Today, interest in the identification and assessment of environmental impacts of different businesses tend to increase interest among researchers and activists, business information systems and information technology to green IT. The use of green IT in the industry is faced with opportunities and different challenges. The opportunities and challenges, can gain competitive advantage over the other competitors and the impact on the organization. Therefore, the use of these opportunities and offering solutions to the challenges of green information technology in the organizations is very important. This study presents a model to identify opportunities and challenges for green IT applications in organizations. The dimensions of green IT model are derived from literature review and were confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. In the present study, to determine the importance of each dimension, IT experts and academics views as well as fuzzy non-linear modeling are utilized. The results of mathematical model showed that the cost of implementing green IT solutions can be both an opportunity and a challenge to be addressed.
