Comparative study of Hadarat-e khams in viewpoints of Gheisari & Imam Khomeini

Hadarat-e khams encompasses the levels of absolute existence and the general levels of universe in which the divine theophanies are perceived. In Gheisari and Imam Khomeini opinions, the levels of existence are divided into five Hadrats which are as follows: Divine aspect (Lahoot), Divine Empire (Jabaroot), Angelic World (Malakoot), Corporeal World (Molk) and perfect human. Form among these Hadarat, Lahoot is a part of the levels of Essence and is attributed to the level of Oneness (Vahedyat). The other three levels are believed to be the levels of Out (Kharej). The level of perfect human includes the previous Hadrats; this level isusually described as “synthetical being” (Kown-e Jame). The approach taken by Gheisari and Imam Khomeini to the study of mystical issues, particularly the Hadarat-e khams, was under the influence of the atmosphere in which they had worked and studied; thus, Imam Khomeini’s approach to mysticism has the flavor of Shia mysticism. Comparing Gheisari’s and Imam Khomeini’s opinions in some issues such as the meaning of existence, God’s names and attributes, Keys to the Absent (Mafatih-e Gheib), Chaos (Ama), thelevels of the divine essence, Kharej levels, perfect human and the like, which are all involved in Hadarat-e khams, one can distinguish the basic differences in their ideas. These differences seen in their way of thinking come into sight more significantly especially when it comes to the issue of Muhammadan Reality (Haghighat-e Mohammadie) and Alawi Reality (Haghighat-e Alawie) that was added to Imam Khomeini’s mystical viewpoints.
