The investigation of hydroalcholic extract of Ducrosia anethifolia boiss on the testis tissue and testosterone hormone

Having the effective natural material, the herbs can affect the treatments of the disease with the less side effects than chemical medicines. In the recent years, it has been reported that Ducrosia anethifolia reduced the blood sugar and lipid, and relieved the headaches and back pain. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of hydro-alcoholic extract of Ducrosia anethifolia on Testosterone hormone and the histological changes of testicle in male adult rats.
This experimental study was done on 56 male adult Wistar rats. The animals were divided into five groups: the control group (without treatment), the sham group (which received the solution via gavage for 21 days). The experimental group 1,2,3 received hydro-alcholic extract of Ducrosia anethifolia with 140,280,560 mg/kg dose per the body weight for 21 days sequentially via gavage. On 22nd day, the animals were euthanized and the rat testes placed in 10% formalin for evaluating the histological changes. The 5micron- sections from testicle were provided and stained by the hematoxylin - eosin method. Also the blood serum was collected and the level of testosterone measured. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software and Duncan test and ANOVA at the significant level (p Our statistical analysis showed a significant decrease in the cell numbers of Spermatocytes, Spermatozoon, Spermatids and the levels of testosterone in the experimental group 1, 2, 3 compared to the sham and control groups.
The results of this study demonstrated that extract of Ducrosiaanethifolia could decrease the numbers of germ cells, level of testosterone and Spermatogenesis in male rats.
