A Comparison of the Concentration Levels of Manganese Heavy Metal on the Enzymatic Activity and Protein and Proline Content in Two Cultivars of var Brassica napus L.

To compare the activity of antioxidative enzymes and the amount of protein and proline content of two cultivars of var Brassica napus L. in manganese heavy metal stress, the impact of different Hoglands nutrients with different concentrations of manganese (i.e., 10, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 μM Mncl2) on the antioxidative enzyme activities and protein and proline content in root and shoot of two varieties of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) was examined in hydroponic culture and invitro conditions using Hoglands nutrient. The SPSS software and four replications were applied to statistically analyze the data. The results indicated that an increase in manganese concentration of Hoglands nutrient increased the activity of peroxidase in root and shoot of Hyola and root of PF, but decreased such activity in the shoot of PF. The activity of catalase enzyme increased in the root of Hyola and PF, but the increase was significant only in Hyloa. With an increase in the concentration of manganese in Hoglands nutrients of the root and shoot of Hyola and PF, the protein content increased. This increase was significant and greater in Hyola cultivar. In addition, with an increase in the amount of manganese, the proline content in the root and shoot of both cultivars increased, but this increase was significant in Hyola cultivar.
