Principles of Existentialist theology in Macquarrie's thinking

This article want to explain and examine Principles of theology of John Macquarrie, Christian contemporary theologian. The most important principle of his theology consist of: definition of theology, the creative elements of theology, relation between theology and philosophy, kinds of theology and method of theology. He attempts to offer comprehensive definition with existential approach of theology. His creative elements of theology consist of: experience, revelation or disclosure, the Bible, tradition, culture and reason. He emphasis on influence of Martin Heidegger's existential philosophy and Husserl's Phenomenology on theology in order to relation between theology and philosophy. He also divide systematic theology to philosophy, symbolic and applied theology and determined the position of different styles of theology. His method of theology is composed of method of description, interpretation and application. On this path, Macquarrie properly attempts to make clear and coherent the language of theology and make comprehensible it for contemporary Western human, and offers new interpretation of some Christian theories. For this reason his activity has strength points but some of his positions are critical similar to experience (religious experience of holy thing in particular) is the element of maker of theology, revelation is aspect or mode of religious experience, hesitate about the theoretical function of reason in formation of theology and sometime rejects it, the method of phenomenological perception is very certain in comparison to rational proof.
