Performance in Different Regions

Previous study in the past decade shows that climate has a significant effect on the performance of asphalt pavements. External environmental factors such as precipitation, temperature, Freezing & thaw cycles effect on all the pavement distresses. Therefore, a new experimental design - analyzing guide for pavements (AASHTO 2004) has been provided in order to investigate the effect of weather conditions on pavement performance climate data are imported in software (namely MEPDG) as the basic data.
For the purpose of this study, by obtaining the climate data of the State Meteorological Organization for different weather regions of Iran And converting to the format required by MEPDG software, attempting to run the software and sensitivity analysis of distresses in different areas of climate to change the design factors. The results of evaluate all the sensitivity analysis showed that the pavement is not performance on different climatic zones and the effects of temperature, moisture and freezing & thaw cycle can be different on any of distresses, in different climatic zone. Finally, with evaluate effect of change in the design parameters, it was shown that the sensitivity of distresses to changes in the thickness of the asphalt layer and truck traffic is more than other factors. The determination of subgrade for areas with long freezing & thaw cycles, due to sensitivity of fine- aggregate soil to freezing and swelling them in the thaw of ice season, is also important.
