Adam and the Sin in the State of Love

Abstract:
The story of Adam is noticed by most theologians and philosophers. Quran's method of expression is to explain subjective and rational concepts, which are not sensible and may not be understood by human's limited understanding, using similes – comparing the rational with the sensible - and metaphors; yet it is important to notice that the data and internal structure of the story is real. Adam has committed sin according to the verse "Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went amiss" (Quran, 20:121). Quran interpreters, from different theological and mystical schools, interpret the verse such that it does not impair Adam's infallibility. There are still some questions unanswered by the interpreters. An exact inspect of the words of this verse and considering the tradition [which explains it] makes it clear that the verse points the method of Adam's mystic journey in the world and is not incompatible with Adam's infallibility. Adam was expelled from God's exalted presence because of eating from the forbidden tree and paying attention to someone other than God and thus cannot achieve the highest levels of vilayah, such as prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and is called disobeyer.
