Comparative Examination of "Expectation" in Arabic and Persian Contemporary Poems

The idea of "expectation" and the presentation of Imam Mahdi's features in the poems of committed poets to the Prophet's family are being seen a lot from a long time ago to now, especially in the poems of contemporary period. Contemporary poets have opened a new door to poem and literature, named Mahdavi literature, and they have introduced imam Mahdi as the savior of last times to the seekers of truth from the window of poem. Referring to some evidence of the poems of these poets, the present descriptive-analytic paper is going to examine the idea of expectation and the identity based on culture and civilization with reference to the commentaries of the Quran and widely transmitted narrations .The Persian and Arabic contemporary Shiite poets have described Imam Mahdi's features and the expectation for the Promised in their Mahdavi poems. However, the concept of expectation in the Muslim poet's thought hasnt been reduced to just waiting, but different themes concerning the Islamic identity and civilization have been considered too. Under the topic of Expectation literature, poets have dealt with themes like: waiting, types of waiting (destructive and instructive waiting), waiter's duties in the occultation period (patience, resistance, understanding and knowledge of imam Mahdi), the virtue of waiting, Friday as the symbol of waiting for the Promised.
