The Effectiveness of Hand Dressing Education through Group and Video Training on Nurse's Knowledge and Performance in Hazrat Fatima hospital in 2012

Education can play a major role in improving the quality of nurse's performance. The present study aimed to determine the effect of hand dressing education through group and video training on nurses working in different wards.
In this quasi-experimental study with two groups, 90 nurses working in different wards of Hazrat Fatima in Tehran were selected by census method and randomly divided into two groups: video and group training. Data collecting instrument was a questionnaire to assess the knowledge and performance checklist to evaluate nurses and researchers’ performance before and after the training. Data were analyzed using SPSS software ver19 , Paired-Samples T test and independent t-tests.
The level of awareness in the training group before and after training were 17.20 ± 1.75 and 18.16 ± 1.14 and in the video training group it was 17.07±1.48 and 17.93 ± 1.45. The performance of training group before and after training was 77.89± 9.36 and 81.69±8.41 and in the video training group it was 74.47±10.79 and 80.33±9.36. The results of both groups after the training was better. (P Although both groups were effective in raising nurses’ awareness and performance; however, according to numerous advantages of video training including affordability and ability to watch videos at any time and place, etc., using this method in the training programs is recommended.
