Evaluation of the Clinical Features (Mood, Anxiety, Hypochondria, Hysteria, Psychopathic Deviance, Paranoia, Schizophrenia) Of Emotionally Abused Female Student's Parents in Tehran

This study aimed to determine the clinical characteristics of emotionally abused female student's parents in Tehran.
This study was descriptive and the study sample consisted of 56 parents of emotionally and not emotionally abused female students at first grade of high school, who were selected by convenient sampling from the parents of all high school female students at first grade in Tehran during the academic year 2013-2014. To collect the data, Norouzi's emotional abuse questionnaire (2012) and Minnesota multi-faceted personality inventory (MMPI-2) were employed. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics were used.
The results showed that there is a difference between clinical features (mood, anxiety, hypochondriasis, hysteria, psychopathic deviance, paranoid, and schizophrenic) in emotionally abused female student's parents and emotionally non-abusive female student's parents. Forty eight percent of emotionally abused female student's parents in depression scale and 48% of them in paranoia scale showed clinical symptoms.
The mean scores of non-abusive parents in all clinical scales were less than the average score of emotionally abusive parents. Regarding this difference and with regard to the role of these features in emotional abuse, designing interventions related to emotionally abused children to reduce its negative consequences and parental interventions to avoid continued emotional abuse are recommended.
