Analyzing educational centers for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) Case Study: three autism centers in Isfahan

Abstract:
Objective
This article analyzed three educational centers of autism spectrum disorders in Isfahan. A needs assessment is a systematic study of a building and its function. Architects use the process of a needs analysis to identify needs or gaps between the present condition and the appropriate one.
Methods
The study employed an analytical method combining literature review and field observation to describe the most salient characteristics of the buildings under investigation as well as assessing their fitness to users’ needs and requirements.
Result
The study identified 10 factors underlying the users’ needs and requirements and concluded that none were a characteristic of the three buildings under investigations.
Conclusion
The study concluded that autism educational centers in Isfahan studied in this article are not fit the special needs of children with spectrum disorders.
