Systematic concept of drought among farmers of Esfahan province

Abstract:
This study aims to explore the systematic concept of drought in agricultural community and it also tries to show how farmers understand, interpret and evaluate this phenomenon and its consequences. In addition to their own interpretation of this phenomenon, what reasons do they have for it and how do they react to it based on these reasons and interpretations. It's a qualitative study and the strategy of grounded theory has been used to do research and to analyze data and to offer the final theory. After the basic concepts and the main categories based on them in the open coding had been discovered, the categories were connected according to their properties in axial coding. The findings include 5 categories: «tragic experience», «predisposed and defective grounded conditions», «draught as multifactorial phenomenon», «multilateral risk», «personal coping strategies», and basic category as «life-world at risk» that contains all main categories. Therefore, the activists in agriculture experience a risky life-world that they couldnt basically solve the problem by personal actions with a temporary result and they think future is indeterminate, full of fears and hopes. They think an enabling and totalitarian state can organize this crisis in addition to apocalyptic hopes.
