The Effectiveness of Schema Therapy and Logo Therapy on Death Anxiety in Patients with Hypochondriasis

The purpose of this research was to focus on death anxiety with schema therapy and logo therapy approaches in the treatment of hypochondriasis.
The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design. The population of the study consisted of all individuals with hypochodriasis and death anxiety. To this end, 28 patients were randomly selected and divided into three groups: experiment 1, experiment 2, and the control group. The first experimental group received 20 sessions of interventional therapy, while the second experimental group received 10 sessions of a meaningful therapeutic intervention. The applied research instruments were death anxiety scale and illness attitude scale. To analyze the data, mixed repeated measure has been used.
Findings: The results of mixed repeated measure have showed that schema therapy and logo therapy can decrease death anxiety and hypochondriasis in patients during post-test and follow up. The research has two main results. First of all, the study revealed that schema therapy is highly efficient in treating hypochondriasis which is considered as a disorder resistant to treatment. Secondly, it indicated that focusing on death anxiety in treating hypochondriasis disorder can lead to significant improvements in these patients.
