A Review on the Book Al-Ihtijaj

Al-Ihtijaj ‘ala ahl al-lijaj is a book about Ahl al-Bayt (a) written in 12th century which has influenced other works inscribed later. Tabrisi the author of this book is not as well-known as other Shi’ite scholars, but his book is incredibly famous. This book contains a large number of narrations, some of which are rare ones. The sources and narrations of Al-Ihtijaj which were stated in earlier books are analyzed in the present paper. Based on the findings of this study, the majority of the content of this book were stated in reliable and unreliable Sunni and Shi’ite books. However comparing to their original sources, they were reported with more or less details and with unknown sources. Moreover, some narrations of this book were not stated in earlier sources and they lack the name of sources and chains of transmitters which has made it impossible to discover their sources.
