The Impact of Top Management External Ties on Competitive Advantage; Case Study: Construction Industry

The social capital of management can be divided into two parts, internal and external, and both of them could have an important role in improving executive function of company. This paper aims to analyze the impact of the external ties of top managers on company's competitive advantages, with considering the moderator variables. The survey’s questionnaire was developed with combining various articles and its validity and reliability was proved. The results of 352 questionnaires were distributed at the 13th international exhibition of construction industry showed the impact of external ties managers on the competitive advantage is 0/25. Also larger or older companies have greater predictability in the research components in contrast with other control variables and they are more influenced by their ties managers. The moderator intensity of the institutional environment and the market is very high and the market environment is stronger than the institutional environment. However, a degree of uncertainly in demand is not a significant moderator. B2C and service companies are many different with B2B and product companies in the case of control variables. In sum, it is offered to pay more attention to market environment and outcome's control variables in the management ties situation.
