Application of Information Technologies Literacy in Personal Health: Patients, View

Abstract:
Purpose
Accessing to health information and getting informed about the health and illness issues are important factors for health status. The use of information technologies are leading to increasing health literacy. The aim of this research is to determine attitude application about role of information technology literacy in health education of the individuals.
Methodology
Survey research method was used, and the data was collected by a researcher- made questionnaire, and health literacy questionnaire standard S-TOFHLA (Short Test Functional Health Literacy in Adults). 500 literates of patients (aged 18 years) in Ardebil University of Medical Sciences hospitals were participated in this research.
Findings: The response rate was 80/6%. 59% of the participants were females and 41% were males. According to S-TOFHLA 28% of patients had adequate health literacy, 15% had borderline literacy, and 57% had inadequate health literacy. 37% of patients should learn about their diseases, used information technologies, but only 27% were knowledgeable about knew advanced features of search and search operations.
