A Study of the Quranic Style in Fixed Vocabulary Arrangement

Abstract:
In the Quranic style, vocabulary arrangement has been done according to different proportions. Some recurring arrangements have changed in various cases. For example, "Hakim Aliam" has appeared in some positions as "Alim Hakim". However, some arrangements have been used consistently. For example, the phrase "Aziz Hakim" have been used only in one form despite repeated application. The present research used a descriptive-analytical method to find the answers to two questions about fixed vocabulary: firstly, what is the relation existing between the fixed Quranic words and, secondly, why a word always has preceded another as in the second example mentioned above? It seems that there are unvaried or non-variable proportions in fixed Quranic vocabulary arrangements that may have semantic, phonetic or semantic-phonetic roots. Considering the constraints of space for discussion, the researcher only addressed semantic proportions of the fixed vocabulary, and concluded that such proportions as important and more important, gradual procession, and the like are the reasons for the precedence of a word over the other and hence their fixed occurrences.
