Entrepreneurship in Quran and Hadiths and the University Role in Fostering Entrepreneurs with Islamic Spirit

Religious teachings can be used in entrepreneurship debates, especially in a religious community, since a comprehensive approach of entrepreneurship with respect to religion can complement the theory and practice in this area. This research was conducted by the combination of interview with religious informants and hermeneutic method. The recognition of the entrepreneurship and entrepreneur is the main objective of this study. It was done by explaining its components based on the Quranic verses and Islamic hadiths as well as introducing appropriate ways for fostering entrepreneurs in the university. Based on the results, an entrepreneur is a person who has good deed and initiates an activity by strengthening the entrepreneurial personality traits with respect to divine teachings and the power of reason and thinking in Islamic verses, so that such activity is associated always with the consent of God and the inner enthusiasm. Such person uses his genius and creativity to obtain profit which ultimately, lead to the development of his region or country while considering the issue’s related to justice and environmental conservation. In order to foster such entrepreneur, universities can use different strategies with religious-cultural, organizational, educational-advisory, and research aspects. Finally, a conceptual model is presented to foster the entrepreneur in the universities with an Islamic perspective.
