Abstract:
Aim
Semi psychotic and Semi neurotic phenomena such as semi hallucinatory experiences and depressive rumination can contribute to the explanation of academic procrastination through the generation of negative emotions. The aim of this study was prediction of academic procrastination of university students based on semi hallucinatory experiences and depressive rumination.
Method
The current study was conducted in descriptive research context. A group of 306 normal participants from university students took part in this research. Participants answered to academic procrastination, depressive rumination as well as Launay-Slade Hallucinations Scales. Data were analyzed using stepwise multiple regression analysis.
Results
Based on the results, all of the variables showed positive correlation with academic procrastination, but in first step depressive rumination and on second step semi hallucinatory experiences had more contribution in the prediction of academic procrastination in the regression equation respectively.
Conclusion
The findings emphasize the role of intrusive thoughts and mental images in explaining university student’s academic procrastination
