Examining the status of livability of urban neighborhoods (A case study of zone 10 Tehran)

Livability is one of the important concepts taken into account in urban studies in the late 20th century. Today, most cities in the world have low life quality due to environmental, social and economic problems. Tehran as the country's political center faces a wide range of infrastructure inefficiencies in its 22 zones. The purpose of the present study is to analysis the existing status of urban livability in the neighborhoods of 10th zone of Tehran based on the different dimensions. The methodology of the research is based on descriptive and analytical approaches. The data and information were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and then was prepared using Likert's five-choice options. The sample size was determined using Cochran (386). The reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts' opinions. The Cronbach's alpha method was used to measure reliability which is 0.8. Data analysis was done by SPSS and different relevant tests such as t-test, Anova and Friedman and maps are produced using Arc GIS. The results of the study indicate that the status of livability and its different dimensions were low in the zone of 10 and the variation among the neighborhoods were more evident regarding to service and infrastructures.
