The Structure of Vocational Interests of students in university of Isfahan: Examining Holland’s and Gati’s RIASEC Models

Abstract:
For aim of indicating better model for use in career counseling with university Student a sample of 640 university students (321 m & 319 fm) from University of Isfahan was selected cluster-randomly, and Occupational Preference Form of Personal Globe Inventory performed between them. Results of randomization test of order relations in each of three groups (men, women, separately; men and women together, supported from better fit for Holland's model than Gati's model (in difference of fit, P=0.01). In each groups, correspondence index (CI) of Holland's model was greater than 0.70 (respectively CI=0.72, 0.75, & 0.72, P=0.02), but CI of Gati's model was respectively 0.50, 0.56, & 0.50, (P>0.05). Results didn't show any difference in model fit between Holland’s and Gati’s model cross sex (P>0.05 for each model). Results supported from cross cultural validity of Holland’s RIASEC model and structural validity of Occupational Preference form of Personal Globe Inventory. Some implications and suggestions were discussed.
