A criticism of Zobde Golestan Textbook (a Turkish Translation & Explanation of Golestan) by Osman Fayeq (1307 AH)

In this article, it has been tried to investigate one of Golestan's Turkish translation and Explanations, which was of importance due to being a textbook at the beginning of the fourteenth century, in terms of the particular style, content, and the extent of its compliance with translation goals. Zobde Golestan, written by Osman Fayeq (1307 AH), is one of the few translations worthy of attention that has been selected and criticized in this study because of its purpose and particular viewpoint on Golestan and its historical place. This research consists of three main topics: 1. Introducing and expressing the prominent features of the book on the teaching of Persian language and literature; 2- An overview of the grammatical analyzes written in the margins of Golestan, in order to receive and describe the patterns of the author's writing, referring to some of its features, strengths and weaknesses; 3- In the third part, following the review of some of the most widely used theories in the translation of texts, Antoine Bremen's theory of translation of classical texts was selected because of the proximity to the goal. The text was criticized based on seven components of the twelve components in the distortion of the text including: Clarification, Expansion, Ennoblement, Qualitative impoverishment, Quantitative impoverishment, the destruction of underlying networks of signification, and the destruction of linguistic patterning. The results suggest that this book, despite some inescapable defects in the translation of literary texts, offers interesting ideas for better introducing both Turkish and Persian languages, and in particular the unexplored important aspects of Gulistan Sa'di.
