Ethnic Policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Northwest Region and its Impact on Social Security (Case Study of the Azeri People)
Ethnic policies can affect the various dimensions of security especially its social dimension which deals with identity issues. However, the ethnic policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the northwestern region (despite its special security conditions) has not been fully considered yet towards the Azeri people and, on the other hand, the impact of these policies on social security as one of the main dimensions of security, which has a direct relationship with identity and ethnic issues, has been underestimated;Hence, the researchers’ concern is firstly to examine the ethnic policy of the Islamic republic of iran in the northwestern region towards Azeri people and, secondly, to examine the impact of this policy on social security of the Islamic republic of iran. To answer the research question and its hypotheses, using a library and analytical-descriptive method, a questionnaire consisting of 27 items was developed.The statistical population of this study was 200 of the officials and social and security experts located in the Northwest region. Among which a number of 131 people of them were selected as the sample size, using the Cochran formula. After distributing and collecting questionnaires, responses were analyzed using SPSS software.The reliability of the questionnaire was determined as .75 using Cronbach’s alpha, which Indicates that the questionnaire has a high and acceptable relibility. Finally, after collecting and analyzing the information, it was determined that the policies adopted in the northwest region of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the Azeri people is unity with a tendency towards pluralism and this policy has promoted social security
