A Glance at Daily Life of Tramps in Tehran: its Relationship with Social Security
According to the statistics released by municipality of Tehran and Welfare Organization number of tramps has increased in Tehran, so this phenomenon and its consequences such as addiction, vagrancy and spread of contagious diseases, etc. indicates the necessity of studying the daily life of this group. Whereas majority of tramps in Tehran are immigrants who have been urged to come to Tehran either because of their families or on their own, and have been residents of southern Tehran and/or prone to crime areas in the suburb, in this research Coffman daily life theory, and expressing characteristic have been used. It is noteworthy that in Coffman theory, individuals› characteristics especially ethnic characteristics, class base as well as signs of dignity which guarantee individuals credit are dealt with. Reviewing daily life of tramps in Tehran was implemented through qualitative method, and target-oriented sampling went on until data was saturated. Furthermore, qualitative analysis of the interviews indicated that ethnic characteristics and culture is the most important theoretical element in characteristic that social class base and signs of position are its subordinates. That is to say, social class base and signs of position based on whether having endogenous or exogenous characteristics could be either learned or attributive. This feature could either pave the way for individuals› deviation based on their own ethnic values or preventing them from it. Value and convention might overcome norms in races; therefore, acquired social credit might be lost after immigration, individuals might feel lonely.
