Comparing the Effectiveness of Mobile Social Network-Based Mindfulness Interventions with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Therapy on Depression, Anxiety, Stress among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract:
Background and Aim
The present study aimed to compare mobile social network-based mindfulness training along with of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness therapy on Depression, Anxiety,  Stress in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Materials and Methods
The research employed a pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental design with 3-month follow-up. Among type 2 diabetic patients who referred to diabetes treatment centers in Isfahan in the spring of 2018, 80 patients were purposefully selected based on inclusion criteria and then randomly assigned into three groups of experimental and a control group To measure depression, anxiety and stress, the DASS-21 questionnaire was used. For The Mindfulness Group interventions and Acceptance And Commitment Group Therapy was conducted in 120 minutes sessions in 8 weeks , and for Mobile Social Network-Based Mindfulness Intervention, The 45-minute was performed every night except for holidays in 8 weeks. . The data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc test using SPSS v.23 software.
Results
In addition to the significant effect of all three types of treatments on the improvement of psychological symptoms in diabetic patients, the results indicate that there is a significant difference in decrease depression, anxiety and stress between the social networking mindfulness interventions with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Therapy on Depression, Anxiety, Stress among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes.
Conclusion
The use of Mobile Social Network-Based Mindfulness Intervention for patients who can not participate in psychological treatment group meetings continuously can be used as an effective intervention for the treatment of psychological symptoms, depression, anxiety and stress in diabetic patients.
