Relation Study between Study Habit and Academic Performance of Students in Zabol University of Sciences in 2019
New approaches to learning based on learning and learning are aimed at facilitating the learning process and ultimately promoting academic achievement, and since students have a large volume of content during their studies, the lack of a choice of methodology leads to confusion, this study aimed to identify student’s in Zabol Univercity of Sciences study habits and its relationship with academic performance was performed.
In this cross-sectional study, 313 students were selected by random sampling method in Zabol University of Medical Sciences (2019). Data was collected using study habits questionnaire (PSSHI) that has 45 questions in eight areas. In order to measure academic performance, the mean of total score was used. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics.
The mean and standard deviation of reading habit score in female students was 122.22 ± 29.58 and male students were 119.47 ± 28.27. 28.1% of students were inappropriate study habits, 67.7% had moderate study habits and 4.2% had appropriate study habits. There was no significant relationship between the mean score of study habits and their academic performance. Also, there was no meaningful relationship between the study habits of people with academic term, gender, marital status, employment status, educational level, place of residence. There was a meaningful and reverse relationship between the habit of studying and age and there was also a significant relationship between the habit of study and the field of study.
In general, student’s study habits are in moderate grade and can say that the study method in students have not a good quality. On the other hand, due to the significant relationship between study habits and academic performance, pay attention to this issue is considered necessary by the faculty education authorities. Holding training courses, in this regard can be effective in improving student learning process.
