Investigating the Feelings of Women's Security in Urban Spaces (Case Study: Behsat Park, District 16 of Tehran Municipality)

Security as a basic need has a special place in human societies. Planners and designers of social spaces, especially cities, strive to provide security to users of those spaces by identifying security threat factors, especially in public spaces. As half of human communities, women have a distinct relationship with space through biological characteristics, responsibilities, and a different perspective than men. They need special space facilities to increase their confidence in the safe presence of urban spaces, especially public spaces such as parks. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the safety of women in the Behsat Park (Khazaneh) of District 16 of Tehran. In order to measure the social security of women in these areas, three dimensions of social, physical, and environmental surveillance related to a sense of security have been assessed. The results show that there is a significant relationship between the variables studied and women's sense of security above 95% with a significant degree (Sig = 0.000). Overall, the rate of social security surveillance of women with variable social control with a coefficient of 0.682 has the highest effect on non-use of women in the park.
