The Only-Child Adolescents’ Lived Experience of Interaction with Parents,»A Phenomenological Study«
Only child is one of the growing forms of Iranian families and it is important to examine the dimensions and special issues related to it. The purpose of this study is to provide a deep understanding of only child adolescents’ experience of intera-ction with parents. The method of this qualitative research is a phenomenological type. For this purpose, 18 only child adol-escents were selected by voluntary purp-oseful sampling method and were intervie-wed by a semi-structured interviews.
The interviews were written and docum-ented word-by-word. Finally, the data we-re analyzed by a thematic analysis method and six main themes were extracted: atten-tion and care, dependency, concern, lone-liness, responsibility, and communication triangle. According to the findings of this study, although only-children experience intimacy and friendly relationship with pa-rents and receive more attention and faci-lities, they suffer a lot of pressure on the various aspects of interaction with parents. Therefore, modifying interactive patterns and awaring parents can be effective in preventing negative outcomes. Given that the findings were derived from an indig-enous research, they can be used effecti-vely in developing educational packages for these families.
