The Effect of Training Positive-Psychology on the Quality of Life in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases, which has a negative effect on the quality of life. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of training based on positive-psychology on Quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes.
This quasi-experimental study was a pretest-posttest with control and follow-up group. The sample was selected through convenient sampling from patients in Hazrat Ali Health center in Isfahan with type 2 diabetes in 2017 and randomly divided into two groups of 15. The experimental group was trained positive psychology and the control group did not receive any treatment. Both groups were assessed before and after the intervention and at the follow up stage using the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using analysis of variance with measure repeated ANOVA.
results Showed that positive- Psychology education had significant influence on the quality of life and mental health area, social relations and environmental health in patients with type 2 diabetes and Post-test scores increased but There was no significant influence in physical health area (P <0.001),
Positive Psychology education effectively improves the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is recommended that this treatment approach be used to help improve the quality of life of these patients.
