Evaluation of the Indicators Affecting the Function of Sustainable Rural Housing with an Emphasis on the Role of Culture and Society

Housing plays a special role in meeting each of the basic human needs. As an integrated system, rural housing consists of interconnected elements that is formed by interacting with different forces and factors, including cultural and social factors, and have certain structure and functions. Today, there is no traditional housing in the villages that can meet religious and social needs of its inhabitants; however, there are alternative habitats that do not have the necessary spatial quality as before due to the severe shortage of spatial richness influenced by social and cultural changes. Therefore, the question is how did cultural and social factors affect the functioning of rural housing in terms of sustainability? And what are the factors influenced by cultural and social factors in sustainable rural housing? Thus, doing this study is necessary to prevent the process of modeling from undesirable experiences and avoid repetition of unsuccessful experiences in the future constructions in order to maintain the principles and values of an Iranian housing. Therefore, this is a descriptive-analytical study in terms of its nature, topic and objectives. The statistical population of the study is a group of the heads of the household in the villages of Noor city, among which 175 participants were questioned by simple random sampling method. Instrument of the study was a questionnaire. After collecting field information, the indices influenced by cultural and social factors in the level of rural housing sustainability were analyzed by statistical analysis software. The results indicated that the houses built in villages of Noor city over the past 8 years were stable in 21%, relatively stable in 36% and unstable in 43%.
