A Factor-Analysis of Information Technology and Total Quality Management in Sports Federations

The present paper aims to study the relationship between IT and total quality management in sports federations of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The type of research was applied and the used methodology was descriptive-survey. The statistical population included 150 presidents, vice-presidents, and secretaries of sports federations who completed 150 questionnaires, some of which were incomplete, and therefore, excluded. Thus, 110 questionnaires were analyzed. This number was corresponding to the sample size in the table of Morgan and Argyris (n≥108). Factor-analysis and Lisrel software were used to examine the hypothesis. The results showed that the components of total quality management in sports federations were significantly affected by IT. Moreover, information technology had significant positive effect on the components of leadership (factor loading=0.601, t=12.803), strategic planning (FL=0.723, t=10.381), customer satisfaction (FL=0.761, t=12.803), staffing (FL= 0.690, t= 8.402), personnel empowerment and education (FL= 0.755, t=128.450), information analysis (FL=0.840, t= 21.325), quality and productivity improvement (FL= 0.770, t= 14.707), and quality assurance (FL=789, t=16.034). Confirming the primary hypothesis, the results indicated that IT had the highest effect on the component of customer satisfaction. This finding entails important points for executive managers of sports federations. Facilitation of information streams will lead to more customer satisfaction and eradicate the existing shortages in organizations of this kind.
