Tendency of Clinical Nurses to Leave the Profession: Management Strategies to Promote Nurse Retention
Health care staff tendency to leave the profession, is one of the major challenges in that the health system. The lack of nurses and Professional leave have had major problems in patient care, quality care and medical expenses. The purpose of this study was to determine the management strategy for maintaining clinical nurses.
This paper is a review article that based on collecting data from library resources and databases PubMed, Science Direct, SID, Google Scholar with the literature review from 2000 to 2018 with keywords clinical nurse, Tendency to leave the profession, management strategies has been developed.
Characteristics of working conditions and principles of management such as workload, role stress, work schedule, level of autonomy, and interpersonal relations within organization, coordination, training, motivation and organizational climate such as ethics, support, equality, justice, and power are very important in staying in the nursing profession.
Discussion and Conclusion:
The individual factors and characteristics of the work environment are very effective for nursing staff to stay in the nursing profession. Nursing managers can have a positive impact on job satisfaction and tendency of clinical nurses to leave the profession with regard to different staffing conditions and the improvement of the work environment.
