The priming with recirculation of Normal Saline method, a method for increasing the adequacy of dialysis

Hemodialysis is the most common and costly therapy used to treat chronic renal failure in the
worldwide. Inadequacy of dialysis is one of the main causes of mortality in hemodialysis patients. Promoting the dialysis adequacy as one of the goals of care team is effective on the dialysis patients’ prognosis.The aim of this paper is to examine the priming with recirculation of Normal Saline method as a method to increase dialysis adequacy.

In the present review literature, a search of English and Persian language literature was performed incorporating both electronic and manual components from 2000 to 2014.

Review and improve the quality of dialysis as a factor associated with death, survival, quality
of life and financial costs has a Special Importance in the dialysis program. Due to the inadequacy of the studies carried out in the country is not desirable method of increasing inadequacy are welcome. One of these methods is the use of priming with recirculation of Normal Saline method and research has shown that it can have a positive effect on dialysis adequacy.

One of the main tasks of nurses in the hemodialysis ward is periodic measurement of dialysis adequacy, assessment the cause dialysisinadequacy, providing solutions to the improving it, use the methods with high efficiency and low cost. Considering the simplicity and low cost, no
side effects for patients, ease of use for nurses, non- invasive method, usage of priming with recirculation of Normal Saline method would be more beneficial and affordable to patients.
