Investigating the Relationship between Leadership Styles of Managers and Employees’ Organizational Commitments: A Case Study on the Police Command Center of Fars Province
This study aims to clarify the relationship between leadership styles of managers and the organizational commitments of the police personnel. This piece of research adopts a descriptive-survey method. Data collection means include a two-part questionnaire the first part of which measures the management style, and the second part thereof is concerned with the organizational commitments. The statistical population consists of the staff personnel working in the Police Command Center of Fars Province, from among whom, 299 individuals were sampled. The data were analyzed by means of the descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and stepwise regressions analysis) for the sake of replying to the research questions. Based on the correlation coefficient received, there was a weak, significant relation between the staff managers’ employing the authoritarian and benevolent styles and the organizational commitments of the staff personnel in the population studied; and the closest, most significant relation was observed between the staff managers’ consultative and participative management styles respectively and the organizational commitments of the staff personnel in the population in question. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the staff managers’ using the consultative and participative management styles more than the authoritarian and benevolent styles enhances the staff personnel’s organizational commitments; and the staff managers are advised to pay special attention to their management styles in order to increase the organizational commitments of their employees.
