Effectiveness of Cognitive Rehabilitation on the Promotion of Reading and Working Memory in Students with Reading Learning Difficulties
The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation on the promotion of reading and working memory in students with learning difficulties. The design of the study was semi-experimental with pretest-posttest and control group. The population consisted of all second elementary male students with reading difficulties in Tehran city. From this population 30 individuals were non-randomly selected through available sampling, and were randomly divided into two groups of experimental and control groups. After pretest the experimental group which consist of 15 participants received cognitive rehabilitation interventions for15 sessions. Then post- test performed for both groups.in this study new version of Tehran-Stanford-Bineh intelligence assessment test and Wechsler intelligence scale-forth edition and Nama Reading Test were used . Data analysis was performed by using analysis of covariance. Research findings indicate that the cognitive rehabilitation and increase a person's ability to process and interpret information and rehabilitation process of cognitive development such as auditory and visual memory; auditory and visual attention and discriminate;Reasoning,organize and sequence of visual, Logical thinking And physical education can promote reading and improve working memory. Also the results showed that cognitive rehabilitation is effective on improve working memory and the components of reading words, discriminate chain words, understand and read non words in the significant level of P=0/01.
