Abstract:

The fundamental factors of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran can be considered in matters such as the rejection of domination, in dependence and opposition to the Zionist regime. From this perspective, Ir a n's behaviors could be meaningful. Iran's support for Syria in the d ev el op me n ts between 2011 and 2019 has been related to the principles of Iran's for ei g n policy. Although tactical changes have taken place, Iran's strategic or ie nt at ion and attitude toward the Syrian crisis have not changed. The purpose of th is study is to explain the relationship between Iran's relations with the Sy ri a n government and its internal crisis. Iran's support for Syria can be an al yz ed in the context of national interests, including ideological interests, re gi on a l influence, confrontation with the US outside Iran's geographical bo und ari es , establishing a direct communication channel between Tehran and Da ma s cus, reducing the influence of regional competitors, including Saudi Arabia.
