The Border Stations’ Functions and its Effect on Border Security (A case study of Germi Border Regiment in 2008-2009)

Abstract:

The border stations are considered as the most important factor in establishing security in border regions. This study is implicational and conducted in survey method and it investigates the functions of border stations in the security of Germi border region. In this study the instruments for information collecting were questionnaire, observing the present phenomena, investigating the documents, and literature review. The statistical population of this study is the total 87 members including border commanders of Ardabil Province, the personnel of Germi Border Regiment, the commanders and groups’ surrogates, stations, the border turrets, and the political and security authorities of border cities of the region. The SPSS was used for data analysis in this study. The results indicate that public training among frontiers, interaction with frontier guardians of neighboring countries and dispatching night ambush and border patrol by border stations have the most effect in establishing security, respectively.
