Abstract:

Commentators disagree on the reference of "She Verily Desired Him and He Would Have Desired Her" as well as the two words "evil" and "Lewdness " in verse 24 of Yūsuf Surah. Some believe that "Desired" was used by Yūsuf and Zuleikha, or only by Yūsuf, meaning beat and kill, and therefore they translate "evil" to beat and kill, and"Lewdness" to adultery. Some believe that both "desired" are adultery, and "evil" and "lewdness" return to the same issue; Of course, "desired" came to action on behalf of Zuleikha, but not on the part of Yūsuf due to the "argument of the Lord." Narrations have been narrated about both interpretations. The present study, with a descriptive-analytical method, is an attempt to critique and interpret the different opinions of the commentators and to provide a solution to resolve this difference and to reach the purpose of the verse with Qur'anic approach. Although this article prefers the second interpretation, it considers the reasons and evidences provided by those who believe in either of the two views are insufficient and seeks to solve the problem in the Qur'an itself. To this end, the correct meaning has been reached through the context and form of the Yūsuf Surah verses and other verses of the Holy Qur'an.
