Analysis of the narrative structure and Discourse Action of the Novel Symphony of the Deads based on Greimas ’Theory of Narrative Semiotics of Paris School
Theory of Narrative Semiotics of Paris School has a prominent place in narrative discussions that refers to "meaning" and the manner of appearing meaning, which is closely related to Greimas’ narrative approach. Reproductive pattern of Meaning is the most important concept of Greimas’Theory of Narrative Semiotics, aiming of knowing meaning and its structure, Greimas tried to achieve the global grammer of narrative language. In the analysis of narrative texts, Greimas’ actional pattern is better than other narrative pattern and tries to Discourse Action. In this paper, the narrative analysis of the novels of The Symphony of the Deads in two levels surface strcture which is the position of the objective and deep structure which is the position of abstract data, is based on Greimas’Theory of Narrative Semiotics and the his action pattern from the perspective of how to formulate structures . Stream of consciousness’ is the most important feature of this novel that the narrator, with its application, has broken the time and place with a realistic view in creation of characters. In this paper which its method is analysis and descriptive, the fundamental question is whether the novel written in surrealistic space, how much Greimas’Theory of Narrative Semiotics can analyze at the narrative structure (plot), and which is the factors of discourse in the production of meaning based on Greimas’ actional pattern?
