Identifying barriers to open innovation in universities

Universities nowadays are in a fast and complex technological environment that requires dynamic innovation processes to integrate all components of the university's ecosystem in order to overcome obstacles and challenges. This new dynamic innovation framework is a new paradigm called "Innovative Innovation" (OI). Open innovation can play an important role in boosting the competitive advantage of the university by using both domestic and international ideas and, at the same time, finding internal and external ways in the market. This article seeks to answer the question of what are the barriers to open innovation at universities? In this regard, the qualitative research method of "theme" using semi-structured interviews, information from 17 professors in the field of innovation and commercialization of public universities in Mazandaran province was collected and analyzed using open and axial coding method. . The results of the research indicate the internal and external barriers for open university innovation. At the end, there are suggestions for reducing internal and external barriers and developing open innovation in universities.
