The Necessity of Civil Moderation in the Political Philosophy of Islam
Statement of the problem in this study is that, in one hand, with regard to religious and divine principles of Islamic political philosophy and the dual nature of human as being material-spiritual, animal-human, and evil-divine, and on the other hand, his status as the representative of God on earth, what sort of system can flourish his perfect capabilities and talents in terms of theoretical and practical aspects to assist him achieve his goals and desires. The results of the research conducted by the method of conceptual analysis and philosophical reason revealed that the acknowledged goals and desires in Islamic political philosophy can be achieved only through a political system relying on civil moderation. Thus Islamic political philosophy is neither unrealistic nor idealistic, but it is realistic and based on rationality and how to establish order and stability by understanding the essence of virtue and evil as well as the management of how to set up virtues and prevent evil acts (injustice, the infringement of human rights, …). Furthermore, the rationality of political philosophy is more inclined to prevention and preparation, rather than recognition of the essence and prescription for goals.
