Challenges of the Iranian Pension System and Provision of SolutionsBased on Turkey’s Experience
21st century society is facing a massive aging of population. This feature has led to new challenges in many countries’ social security systems, so that the public sector pension in some developing countries has faced a financial threat. In this situation, reforming the pension system has become an inevitable necessity. The pur-pose of the present study is to analyze the gap between the general conditions of the retirement system in Iran and Turkey based on the indicators of the pension system extracted from the development plans of Turkey and the information available in Iran. For this purpose, the method has been used in the present study is “applied” studies and due to the nature of the subject and its components, the approach is “descriptive - analytical”. The data required for the research were prepared using documentary, libraries and the Internet related tools.In this study, after reviewing the current situation of the retirement system in Iran and assessing similar condi-tions in the Turkish pension system, the questionnaires were filled out by the experts. It should be noted that SPSS software and paired T test were used to analyze the data. The results show that the indicators of Pension Fund resources’ compatibility with inflation and macroeconomics of the country, equity of the subscribers, the investments made by the funds, the mechanism of improving the structure of the pension system and the amount of insurance coverage (in health services) have the highest gap between the status quo and desired condition.
