The effect of flipped education on the Self-directed learning readiness nursing students in the illnesses pediatric nursing lesson

Nowadays, the importance of self-directed learning of learners has been emphasized by educational environments seriously and on the other hand, those teaching methods in which teachers can use information and communication technology have attracted enormous interest. Therefore, this study was carried out aimed to determine The effect of flipped  education  on the Self-directed learning readiness nursing students in the illnesses pediatric nursing lesson.

This study is considered as a quasi-experimental research which was carried out on 36 nursing students of Meybod Nursing School. The pediatric nursing lesson was taught in 12 sessions in the traditional way with lecture method and 12 sessions in the Flipped Classroom method. Data were collected by demographic questionnaire and Fisher self-report questionnaire which was completed by students in session 12 and 24 and analyzed by SPSS software version 22.

According to the results, there was a statistically significant difference between self-directed learning readiness before and after the intervention (p = 0.004). Also, a significant difference was observed in the field of interest in learning (P=0.001) and there was no significant difference in self-control and self-management domains (p> 0.05).

The results show that the flipped classroom method can have a positive effect on self-directed learning readiness of the students and be used alongside the traditional method of teaching.
