Abstract:

Cross-border tourism is a part of the tourism industry that, if properly planned and managed, can be the creator or driver of a developed process to achieve sustainability in these areas. The present article has been developed with the aim of investigating the impact of tourism development on the sustainability of Nowshahr city. The research method is survey and descriptive-analytical and the data were collected using library and field studies. The statistical population included the citizens of Nowshahr. The sample size was 384 based on the Cochran's formula. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using Cronbach's alpha test (0.72). The results indicate that the development of tourism has played an effective and significant role on each of the dimensions of sustainability in Nowshahr city. Based on the obtained results, tourism development has had the greatest impact on the dimension of economic sustainability and the least role on the dimension of environmental sustainability.
