Developing a media literacy model to promote social capital in Yazd

Abstract:

The present study aims to develop a model of media literacy to promote social capital in the city of Yazd and uses a combined method, exploratory type and has a qualitative and quantitative part. In the qualitative part of the grounded theory method, the opinions of 19 experts were obtained in the form of in-depth semi-structured interviews. Interviews became transcripts and the process of data analysis and coding began. To assess the validity of the qualitative part, a participant validation strategy and a harmonization approach were used. The results of the qualitative section showed that if the underlying conditions, creation and intervening factors are controlled and the emphasized strategy is used, the promotion of social capital can be achieved. In the quantitative section, 364 citizens of Yazd were selected by available cluster sampling method to complete the researcher-made questionnaire, and after statistical analysis, the results showed that the mean of research variables is higher than the average.
