Abstract:

According to the Orientalists' view of twelver Shi’a religion, they do not consider Shi'ism to be a comprehensive school that emerged from the beginning of the Prophet's mission, but they believe that the Shi'a is a political religion, that was appeared after the Prophet's demise (pbuh), and in a gradual process has been formed and evolved. While the findings of this article indicate that this belief is contrary to the twelver Shi’a belief and even some quotations from Sunni sources. Providing a false statement of how the Shiites came into being historically and comparing the Shiite beliefs with the Christian beliefs about Jesus, as well as an incorrect analysis of the Shiite beliefs about the existence of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) along with the Shiites' beliefs about intercession, are among the mistakes made by the   "Leiden's Encyclopedia" authors, included in the "Shiite" entry as well as the "Twelfth" entry. In this article, we tried to prove the correctness of Shiite beliefs with a critical view of the mentioned cases.
