Evaluation of the causes of fear of natural childbirth in pregnant women referred to Ganjavian Hospital in Dezful
Childbirth is one of the most important events of the reproductive period. Childbirth is a period of transition to motherhood and has its own physical and emotional effects.
This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study in which the study population consisted of all pregnant women referred to the midwifery clinic of Ganjavian Hospital in Dezful in a period of 8 months from May 1998 to December 1998 for midwifery services And delivery were referred to Ganjavian Hospital and met the inclusion criteria. In order to collect data, a three-part questionnaire was used, which was completed through interviews. In order to evaluate the mean difference, t-test and chi-square were used and to determine the correlation between continuous variables, Pearson test was used.
In this study, the mean fear was 36.66 83 5.83. This study showed that 9.7% had low fear, 68.3% had moderate fear and 22% had severe fear about the fear of childbirth. There was a statistically significant difference so that the average fear was higher in mothers with daughters (37.66 vs. 35.79). The highest fear of mothers was fear of labor pain and fear of long delivery time.
Due to the high level of fear of childbirth, the need for a serious review of how to hold training classes so that both couples can use the classes together is one of the proposed programs that can have good results in the long run.
