The Social Effects of Sincerity in the Contemporary Shiite Interpretations with an Emphasis on the Interpretation of Al-Mizan

Inviting to worship God and sincerity had been the headline of the call of all divine prophets. In Quran, the order of pure slavery has been expressed not only by the word of sincerity and its derivatives, but also by other different words, such as “yoriduna wajha”, “aslem wajha lellah”, “nasahu lellah”, “ebteqa’a marzatellah”, “ebteqa’a wajhallah”, “wa qorobaten endallah”, “hanif”, and “tabattal elaih”. In belief and worship, the opposite of sincerity is polytheism and idolatry, and in obedience, the opposite of sincerity is hypocrisy, which has been interpreted in the narratives as “hidden polytheism” and “minor polytheism”. Although the realm of sincerity in Quran includes all beliefs, ritual practices, and moral desirable traits, what has been investigated in this research is some issues on the effects of sincerity, based on the Quranic verses and contemporary Shiite interpreters’ view, particularly the precious interpretation of Al-Mizan. These verses contain sincerity in belief, sincerity against polytheism and idolatry, sincerity in ritual practices, and some moral virtues, such as sincerity in Infaq, feeding, testifying, whispering to reform people, charity, and any good practice. This descriptive-analytical research applied a library method and took advantage of moral and interpretive sources by focusing on the verses and Shiite interpreters’ famous view. The results showed that the repulsion of seditions, reformist movement, tranquility in the uprising for God, the non-fear of non-God, unity, victory in the uprising for God, the release of society from lust, and the increase of trust among people, are social effects of sincerity in the contemporary Shiite interpretations.
