Comparison of the Effectiveness of Human Givens Therapy (HGT) and Rational-Emotive-Behavior Therapy (REBT) on Reducing Irrational Beliefs of Divorced Women

This study is to compare the effectiveness of human givens therapy (HGT) and rational-emotive-behavioral therapy (REBT) on irrational beliefs of divorced women. This research is applied in terms of purpose and the study method is a quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test with control group and follow-up test. The statistical population of this study includes all divorced women in Shahrekord in 2018. The sample consisted of 45 divorced women who were selected by convenience sampling method and randomly classified into research groups (two experimental groups and one control group). HGT and REBT were performed in 7 weekly sessions. The Jones Irrational Beliefs Test (IBT) was used to collect the data. SPSS software was used for data analysis, and repeated analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test were applied to analyze the data. Repeated analysis of variance indicated that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of irrational beliefs of REBT and HG treatments with the control group (P <0.001, F = 1647.01). Bonferroni test also showed that the mean scores of the experimental groups compared to the control group decreased significantly. Furthermore, there was no difference between the effectiveness of the two treatments on irrational beliefs, and the effectiveness of both treatments in the four-month follow-up was stable.
