Reproduction of the physical structure of Iranian garden in painting and carpets of the Safavid period
Garden,in the Iranian mindset, has a comprehensive image; Persian Garden is one of the manifestations of the embodiment of the Iranian beliefs of the Promised Paradise, and this has highlighted the presence of paradise in Iranian artworks. For this reason, various Iranian art forms have paid special attention to the representation of Iranian gardens. Two areas that are abundantly concerned with this idea are Iranian carpets and paintings. In this paper, the structural dynamics of the design, the role and composition of garden carpets and paintings in the Safavid period and their relationship with the structure of the gardens of the cities of Isfahan and Kashan have been investigated. In this regard, the main questions are how the structural pattern and implementation of Iranian garden during the Safavid period has affected the design of carpet and painting of this period; and what are the common features and differences between these three types of art? This research is qualitative research with comparative approach. The research method is descriptive-analytic, and data analysis is done in an inductive manner. The purpose of this research is to identify the main effects depicted in Iranian garden in gardens and garden carpets. The statistical population is related to Persian gardens, garden carpets and paintings selected from the Safavid period, of which 5 cases have been selected randomly. The findings show that the themes and structure of Safavid period carpets and paintings have the same plan, designand spatialgeometry as the Iranian garden. In most of the carpets and drawings, the use of geometric principles, the pattern of four gardens and the coordination between the themes of the elements have led to the manifestation of Iranian garden in carpets and paintings of the Safavid period.
